Who is Zubin Mehenti?
Zubin Mehenti was born in New Jersey, USA on 5 August 1978 under the zodiac sign of Leo, holding American nationality but is of Indian-American descent, as both of his parents are from India. Zubin came into the spotlight after he began working for ESPN as their sportscaster.

Early life and education
Zubin rarely talks about his early life and parents, however, during an interview with his ESPN friends, he stated that his parents moved to the US from India to seek better opportunities and he thanked them for doing so as the country was very kind to them and offered them more than India ever could.
After he matriculated from one of the local high school, Zubin enrolled at the Rutgers University in New Jersey, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science.
Soon after his graduation, he started his career in journalism, working as a producer for the WPIX TV station which is based in New York – he didn’t stay with them for long, as he moved to WMGM TV station in New Jersey as their weekend sportscaster.
His next job was for WOI TV station based in West Moines in Iowa – he worked as their weekend sportscaster as well, and was part of the team from 2001 to 2005 when he switched to Fox’s KDVR TV station in Denver and stayed with them for six years.
Even though he was already happy with his career, Zubin’s dreams came true once he started working for the ESPN Network in 2011, and has been hosting their “SportsCenter” flagship program at 7 p.m. ever since.
Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) is a US pay TV sports channel owned by a shared company of The Walt Disney Company and Hearst Communications called ESPN Incorporated – the company was first launched in 1979 by Bill Rasmussen, his son Scott Rasmussen, and friend Ed Egan.
The network’s offices are located in Bristol in Connecticut while they also broadcast from their offices around the US including Miami, New York City, Seattle, and Los Angeles. John Skipper used to serve as the chairman of ESPN from 2012 until he resigned in December 18 2017 and was replaced by James Pitaro on 5 March 2018. There are a lot of controversies surrounding the network but the people consider it to be normal as ESPN is one of the most successful sports networks in the US – it goes by the slogan ‘The worldwide leader in sports’.
According to the results from the beginning of 2016, ESPN was watched in around 91 million homes in the US – it was reported that it lost around one and a half million viewers by mid-2017, but its channels are watched in over 200 countries, such as Australia, Brazil, UK, and Germany.
ESPN’s “SportsCenter” flagship program
Zubin has been hosting the “SportsCenter” (SC) ever since he joined the network in 2011. SC is a daily sports news TV program which used to broadcast only once per day but now airs up to twelve times per day – it brings updates and best moments from all the major sports events as well as comments, analyses, and news about the most important events happening in the world of sports.
The show first aired on 7 September 1979 and since then, over 50,000 new episodes have been aired which beats every other program on American TV – it broadcasts from the ESPN’s studios located in Bristol in Connecticut and from Los Angeles in California.
Personal life and relationships
Zubin is one of those people who prefer to separate their business life from their personal life – he is very secretive and never talks about his past or present affairs. If his parents are traditional, they should be the ones to find a wife for him but it is unknown whether or not they’ve continued to follow the Indian traditions after they’ve moved to the US. Zubin appears to be single at the moment; he has never been married and doesn’t have any kids.
His other interests aside from journalism
One way or another, sports is the main thing in Zubin’s life – it resembles the Sun and Zubin’s life rotates around it. When he is not in the office, Zubin enjoys going for a run, and while other people prefer to listen to music, Zubin listens to sports talk shows on the radio – he enjoys reading, generally one of the sports magazines or newspapers.

One of the mentors he appreciates the most
After he left college Zubin served as Melinda Murphy’s producer at his first job at WPIX TV station based in New York – he stated that the woman changed his life, as she answered every question he had to ask about being a reporter and an anchor. She pointed him in the right direction through the course of years, and even though they haven’t seen or heard from each other in quite a while, he is still very thankful to her – Melinda worked as a CBS News correspondent, but has now left the broadcasting industry and is living in Thailand.
His favorite moment in sports
While Zubin was attending the second year of studies at the Rutgers University, the university’s football team was one of the worst, as it finished the season with a 0-11 score and they finished their next season with a 5-6 score. After that season ended, the team’s head coach Terry Shea was praised for the result and was named the Big East Coach of the Year which was somewhat funny because he only won five out of 11 games – Zubin stated how making Terry the Big East Coach of the Year just showed how low the expectations during that season were.
Even though Zubin thought that he was unlikely to see the team in Super Bowl, Greg Schiano, the next head coach of the university’s team made it happen, as he led them to five bowl games in a row and got them to NFL. Zubin described his affection towards the head coach Greg Schiano – ‘I kid you not, if Derek Jeter, Landon Donovan, Kobe Bryant, Peyton Manning and Greg Schiano were all on campus visiting the same day, I would rather spend one minute with Schiano than an hour with any of the others.’
Zubin’s favorite quote
During his interview with ESPN Front Row, Zubin stated that his favorite quote is by Jack Dixon which goes ‘If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.’
Zubin is currently 40 years old. He has short black hair and brown eyes, but his height and weight are not known.
According to authoritative sources, Zubin’s current net worth is estimated to be over $2 million while he is said to have an annual salary of a minimum $80,000.
There’s something about Zubin which is unlike most other people in the broadcasting industry – he doesn’t use social media platforms and doesn’t have an account on any of the popular social media platforms, including Instagram and Twitter. It makes it harder for his fans to reach him and learn more about him, his daily routine and job, but is seems as Zubin prefers to keep these matters to himself.
