Johanna was raised by her parents Steve and Jo Beth Brady. Her father is an experimental craft pilot and engineer, while her mother works as a pre-school teacher and vocalist. Johanna has a younger brother named Cole. She first voiced her passion for the arts as early as three years old, after her parents took her to a performance of “Swan Lake”. Little Johanna was mesmerized by the performers, and her awe convinced her parents to sign her up for ballet lessons.
Soon after that, she started playing jazz, and took tap dancing lessons as well. Her first acting role was in the Theatre of Stars’s rendition of “Annie”, when she was eight years old. Braddy landed her first movie role in 2004, actually a year before matriculating from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Georgia, appearing in the television movie “Pop Rocks” as Olivia Harden. After that, she made three guest appearances before landing a series regular role as Tammy Simms in the comedy crime drama “The Riches”, alongside Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. In 2005, she proved that beside screen acting she also had a talent for voice acting, when she lent her voice to the hugely popular animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, in which she played Princess Yue.
In 2007, she voice-acted in the animated family movie “Surf’s Up”, which also featured stars such as Zooey Deschanel and Shia LaBeouf, and starred in the crime drama “Home of the Giants”, alongside Haley Joel Osment.
