Following a one-year tenure at Florida Today, Tom moved to New York Newsday in 1983, becoming a columnist in 1990. Verducci started writing for Sports Illustrated in 1993. While writing for Sports Illustrated, he shortly joined the Toronto Blue Jays as an outfielder for spring training in 2005. Tom is also a regular guest on The Dan Patrick Show.

Verducci’s most recent work is titled The Cubs Way. The book entails the story of how Theo Epstein and a perfect 5-year plan took the Cubs from a 101-loss season in 2012 to the 2016 World Series Champions. Tom and Reynolds would be replaced by John Smoltz as Fox’s top baseball analyst after the 2015 season. He then worked the 2016 Fall Classic as a sideline reporter, a role he still holds to this day, and as a studio analyst, only doing so for 2016.
