Baltimore City Schools officials have reported that a shooting in Northeast Baltimore this morning claimed the life of a student from Achievement Academy.
Sherry Christian, a spokesperson for Baltimore City Schools, stated that tomorrow was already scheduled to be a professional development day for the students.
Christian also mentioned that the school will offer counseling services to both staff and students next week.
The incident took place at a gas station near the intersection of East Northern Parkway and McClean Boulevard, which is located less than half a mile from the school and even closer to the athletic fields.
Police were alerted to the shooting at the gas station at approximately 9:45 am this morning.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered an individual who had sustained gunshot wounds. Police have reported that the victim was transported to a hospital, but succumbed to their injuries at a later time.
