On Monday, Sen. Rand Paul confirmed in a statement that one of his staff members was stabbed multiple times in Washington, DC over the weekend.
According to the police report, the staff member was attacked with a knife on the 1300 block of H St. NE, but survived the assault.
“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, DC,” Paul wrote.
He requested that people join him and his family in praying for a swift recovery for the victim, while also expressing gratitude towards the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their efforts.
He further mentioned that the suspect, 42-year-old Glynn Neal of Southeast DC, has been arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill.
Lastly, Paul asked for privacy at this time, so that everyone can focus on healing and recovery.
