He received his education at Hudson High School from 1988 to 1992 where he graduated with a high School Diploma. After graduating from high school, he attended Saint Louis University from 1992 to 1996 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics Meteorology.

He works as a Morning Meteorologist for FOX 8. He joined the station in 2003 and has been working there ever since. There, he formulates hyper-local weather forecasts for 25 county areas across northern Ohio and creates custom weather graphics with Photoshop and Fusion HD through Weather Central among other duties. Prior to joining FOX 8, he was a Meteorologist for WSAZ-TV from 1998 to 2003. There, he was a weekend and weekday morning television meteorologist. Also, he was an evening Meteorologist. From 1997 to 1998, he was a Chief Meteorologist at WBOY-TV where he served as an Evening Meteorologist. Scott has witnessed and forecasted many weather events such as the heavy snows of the late 1970s, the drought of 1988, and a few tornado outbreaks.
Moreover, he visits local schools speaking to students about the importance of reading and education. Since 2005, his weather blog SCOTT’S WORLD OF WEATHER features the science of weather and long-range forecasting where he explains the research behind the forecasts. Recently his focus has been on the psychology of how people perceive the weather forecast in an effort to improve communication with weather stories. In addition to his meteorological career, he is a trained Skywarn Severe Weather Spotter for the National Weather Service. Also, he enjoys many sports and was captain of his Division III college baseball team for two years and had a batting average of 0.400. He has coached football, basketball, and baseball locally. Furthermore, he enjoys drawing, weightlifting, photography, playing drums, and the outdoors.
