Tellez began her career at KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri as an anchor and general assignment reporter. She went to WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, Florida in 1988 as a news anchor and reporter. She then joined WGN-TV in Chicago, as an anchor and reporter for the morning and midday newscast from 1995-2004.
For almost 15 years, Tellez worked at WBBM CBS 2 Chicago as a reporter and morning news anchor. She resigned from her duties at CBS 2 on 18th, February 2019. She then joined WFLD FOX 32 on March 4, 2019, as the early morning weekday news anchor.
