Ronnie Duncan Career
In 1978, he began his broadcasting career. He was a news announcer and volunteer disk jockey at the Baltimore Veterans Hospital at the time. He received his big break on television after joining WJZ-TV in Baltimore, MD. He worked as a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor there. He had the opportunity to work with Oprah Winfrey while preparing for his broadcast debut.
Through his sportscasting job, he has been able to travel to various regions of the world, both inside and outside of the United States. CT, Phoenix, Indianapolis, IN, Cleveland, OH, Durham, NC, Columbus, and New Haven, AZ are among these countries. In addition, while serving as a Sports Director at WOIO, he was nominated for three Emmy Awards. Duncan also worked as the host of a morning radio talk show on WKNR-AM.
In the year 2001, he founded his own production firm, “Slam Dunc Productions.” During this time, he also authored and produced a number of documentaries. Among them is the award-winning documentary “The Other Color of Winning.” This documentary tells the story of the legendary 1964 Cleveland Browns championship team. Later in 2005, he added a job as a host for “The Ronnie Duncan Morning Show” on WERE-AM in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was working for Radio One.
Currently, he is pleased to be working closer to his sports mentor, Sonny Hill, who covered the 1975 NBA Finals on CBS, which sparked his interest in becoming a sports broadcaster. Duncan is passionate about giving back to the community, and he volunteers and works with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Veterans Administration, and the NAACP.
