He joined the station in December 2003 and has served the station for more than 1 and a half decades. Previously, he worked for WYFF as a meteorologist and reporter for more than half a decade.
Patrick Rockey Education
Rockey attended Christopher Newport University(then named Christopher Newport College) after completing his high school education at Denbigh High School. When he finished his studies, he became a graduate and attained a Bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism.
Further, he has a Master’s degree in Communications – Radio/TV from Murray State University in Kentucky. Additionally, he went to Mississippi State University where he received his Meteorology training.

His interest in weather started when he went on a camp trip to Lake Gaston at the age of 7. In June 1972, his family was at a pop-up camper where they decided to spend their week. A rainstorm caused by Hurricane Agnes made the trip a muddy mess.
Following that, he became engrossed by hurricanes, snow storms, and thunderstorms. He considers the 1980 Blizzard his favorite weather memory. Rockey edited the school newspapers at both Denbigh High School and Christopher Newport.
Also, he holds the American Meteorological Society’s seal of approval. He has received two southern regional Emmy Awards and many awards from the Associated Press.
