EITHERSasuna is not at all satisfied with the arbitration received by Sánchez Martínez in his match against Celta, much less with the application of VAR by Jaime Latre. The ‘rojillo’ club has issued a statement, shortly after the end of the game, in which they demand an “explanation” for the disallowed goal against Abde due to an alleged offside by Chimy Ávila.
The controversy appears because, in the images shown by the VAR, the elbow of Chimy and the shoulder of the Celta player are taken as a reference.
The Navarrese team complains that there are no clear VAR images in which it was seen that Chimy started in the wrong position at the time of Abde’s strike that later ended in a goal. Osasuna’s statement on this controversial action was as follows:
Club Atlético Osasuna requests clarification from the Technical Committee of referees for Abde’s disallowed goal in tonight’s match against Real Club Celta de Vigo. The image offered by the VAR on the position of Chimy vila does not prove in any way the supposed irregular position of the striker in action. That is why the rojilla entity will demand an explanation from the arbitration body through official channels to clarify if, as it seems, there has been a serious error in the use of technology that has significantly harmed Osasuna.
The club reiterates its utmost respect for the arbitration group and also positions itself in favor of the use of technology to help in their difficult work. However, it strongly demands that the application of these tools be carried out with the necessary rigor in a top-level competition such as LaLiga Santander.
