In 2012, her fame increased significantly when she was cast in the film “Project X”, which follows three friends who try to earn popularity by throwing a party which eventually escalates beyond their control – numerous cast members were taken from an open casting call to introduce fresh faces with few acting credits. Filming took place in Los Angeles and was presented in a found footage home video style. The film was commercially successful, gaining over $100 million on a $12 million budget, but critical reception of the film was mixed, with some stating that the film promoted bad behavior, while others called it thrilling. In 2014, Nichole was cast in a recurring role in the television series “Shameless”, which is based on the British series of the same name, but set on the South Side of Chicago and is filmed throughout the city as well as in Los Angeles. She appeared in the show for 17 episodes spanning two years, meantime being involved in other projects, including the video game “Until Dawn” in which she provided the voice as well as the motion capture.
The video game follows a group of teenagers who decide to have a weekend holiday in a cabin on a mountain, exactly a year after two of their group disappeared from the mountain; the video game received a lot of praise for its design, visuals, music, story, voice acting and gameplay.
