Mark Johnson is an American journalist who served as a news anchor at KTVB News Group. After three decades at Idaho’s leading news organization, he retired from television broadcasting. He is also a recipient of several awards including a regional Emmy award.
Johnson left Milwaukee in 1995 to work for WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, where he anchored the Nightly Sports and covered the Steelers in the 1996 Super Bowl. Mark was granted the opportunity to return to his favorite place on Earth in the spring of 1996, and he served as KTVB’s Sports Director until December 2003, when he was appointed as the station’s primary anchor.
Throughout his successful career, he has served as the face of Idaho news on KTVB’s top-rated evening and late newscasts, as well as an advocate for several community charitable organizations. He’s covered a Super Bowl, a World Series, Fiesta Bowls, NCAA basketball tournaments, and five Olympic games, earning a national Edward R. Murrow award for his work at the Salt Lake Olympics in 2002.
KTVB’s Director of Content, Lisa Chavez, expressed her appreciation for Johnson’s service to the station and community. “Mark has provided our audience with steadfast, trustworthy, authentic news coverage with a personality all his own. Please join me in thanking Mark for his dedication and congratulating him on an incredible career and new chapter of life.” His final broadcast at KTVB was on December 23, 2021.
