Today, the Portuguese Patrícia Mamona is looking to revalidate her title of European champion in the triple jump on an indoor track, in Istanbul, one day after Pedro Pichardo, also in the triple, and Auriol Dongmo, in the shot put.

The 34-year-old Olympic runner-up faces the final with the favoritism of the best mark of the year among those present and the tie at 14.09 meters in qualifying, with the Turkish Tugba Damismaz.
From 20:00 (17:00), Marta Pen faces the final of the 1,500 meters, with the eighth best time of the year (04.08.58 minutes), after having qualified with second place in her series, guided by British Laura Muir, a two-time champion of the distance and 3,000 meters in Belgrade2017 and Glasgow2019.
Making his debut in the 2023 edition of the Indoor European Championships, sprinter Carlos Nascimento, fifth in Torun2021, will compete in the 60-meter qualifiers, looking for places in the semifinals and final, scheduled for the afternoon program of the championships.
Also competing today are Olímpia Barbosa and Abdel Larrinaga, both in the 60 hurdles qualifiers, whose competitive program continues on Sunday, and Evelise Veiga, in qualifying for the long jump.
The day after the victories at the Ataköy Arena, the podium ceremonies for the men’s triple jump and the women’s shot put will take place, to consecrate the two-time Portuguese champions in the specialties Pedro Pablo Pichardo and Auriol Dongmo, respectively.
The men’s triple jump podium ceremony of the 37th edition of the European Indoor Championships, in Istanbul, Turkey, is scheduled for Saturday, from 12:25 local time (09:25 in Lisbon).
After this ceremony, at 12:30 local time (09:30), Auriol Dongmo will be consecrated as the European ‘queen’ of indoor shot put, after having won her second title in a row, with 19.76 – the best European brand of the year.
