Juanfer reacts to the elimination of Junior: “We lacked hierarchy”

Blow to Junior by Arturo Reyes. The Barranquillero team was out of the Copa Sudamericana after losing by the slightest difference against Deportes Tolima in Ibagué and recorded his third loss of 2023, year in which he only won one of the seven games he played.

After the 1-0 loss at the Manuel Murillo Toro, a result that qualified Tolima for the group stage of the South American Cup, Juan Fernando Quintero spoke to the media and analyzed Junior’s elimination. The ’10’, brand new reinforcement of the FPC for this season, lamented the lack of effectiveness in attack: “In an international Cup you have to have a hierarchy and specify the goal plays.”

And added: “These parties have to have a hierarchy and we lacked that. It remains to assume this, nothing more. It’s hard for everything we live through. We had control of the game. With a cool head you think more, we could not convert ”.

Quintero, who started and completed the 90 minutes in Ibagué, took responsibility for the defeat, but made it clear that now they must think about what comes for Junior in the rest of the semester. He assures that in the Cup it is not enough to “play well”.

“It’s not just playing well, you have to specify. I prefer to play bad and pass (…) I have nothing to say, unfortunately we did not classify. We need them to continue supporting us, we are the main culprits in the game but there are still opportunities ahead, ”he declared.

“I think it’s not just La Equidad (the only match that Junior won in 2023), it’s a long tournament, you have to be well prepared. one is speechless, This is football, you have to keep going and raise your head. I always think positively and we must pass this situation ”, Juanfer concluded.

Eliminated from Sudamericana, Arturo Reyes’ team once again focuses on the BetPlay League, championship in which it occupies the sixteenth box of the table with 6 units. His next challenge will be the duel against Envigado in the Metropolitanwhich will be played this Sunday, March 12, starting at 6:10 p.m. in Colombia.
