The supporters of the children of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) are just so that their father can get rid of, until 2026, the possible lawsuit over the jewelry offered to his stepmother, Michelle Bolsonaro.
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) told a parliamentarian friend that the family believes that the former president will get rid of the process.
In their assessment, the case of jewelry brought to the country, but not declared to the Federal Revenue, will not be enough to keep the root Bolsonaristas away from their father. And the worship of this group is considered by them fundamental for “a good start at the beginning of the campaign”.
The biggest problem for his father’s presidential candidacy, according to Flávio told his colleague, will be the decree of possible ineligibility by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) due to other cases involving the use of public machinery in the campaign.
But as for Michelle, the assessment is that her situation is quite different. Less legal and more political.
The former first lady, according to the family’s lawyers, is unlikely to be listed in the process, although the jewels were sent as a gift to her.
The problem is political. For Bolsonaro’s children, the case tarnishes the image of “good girl” that Michelle Bolsonaro had been cultivating. This weakens her possible candidacy for a major political position, especially if she goes to the Presidency of the Republic or some state government.
None of the ex-president’s sons — Flávio, Carlos, Eduardo and Jair Renan — harbors sympathy for a possible stepmother’s candidacy.
They consider “almost a betrayal” of the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, that he is promoting the former first lady. However, they are not thinking of breaking up with the party, not least because of the financial support that the PL promised their father, with him out of the Presidency.
