Fluminense wins Guanabara Cup decision and increases Flamengo’s fast with VP

This Wednesday, Fluminense won the Guanabara Cup, qualifying stage of the Carioca Championship, by defeating Flamengo 2-1, on the turn, at Maracanã. The result increased the lack of Rubro-Negro titles at the beginning of this season.

Flamengo was better in the first half and opened the scoring with a beautiful goal by Everton Cebolinha. Fluminense came back with another posture for the second half and turned with Cano and Gabriel Pirani.

The game

The classic started nervously. Gabriel received a yellow card with seconds of the ball rolling. In addition, many crashes and disputes made the confrontation without emotion. But in the first good arrival, the red-blacks opened the scoring in Maracanã, in the 18th minute. Everton Cebolinha made a good individual move, passed by two markers and kicked Fábio without a chance.

The goal made the game technically better. Fluminense tried to respond and almost tied in the 25th minute, in a shot by Cano that stopped in defense of Matheus Cunha. But Flamengo then responded with Arrascaeta. This time, it was Fábio who saved the tricolors.

Flamengo reached the net in the 34th minute, with Gabriel. However, after being called by VAR, the referee annulled the move due to a lack of Matheus França on André in the play. Fluminense continued with an offensive posture after the scare and responded with Nino’s header over Matheus Cunha.

In the final minutes, the classic was again more concentrated between the intermediaries. Fluminense still tried to draw, but saw Flamengo hold the advantage until the break.

In the second half, Fluminense came back more organized and tied after seven minutes. Fast forward, Arias played for Cano in the area and the Argentine sent it to the net.

The draw made Fluminense grow even more in the classic. So much so that coach Vítor Pereira made three changes, which were not well received by the Red-Black fans, who booed. However, the changes made the Flamengo players balance the game.

However, Fluminense, little by little, returned to dominate the game. The tricolors reached the turnaround at 38 minutes. After a free kick in the area, Gabriel Pirani took advantage of the hit and hit and sent it to the net.

The classic was again nervous in the final minutes, in confusion between players, defensive midfielder Felipe Melo ended up being expelled. With the numerical advantage, Flamengo launched the attack, but saw the tricolors hold the result to keep the title of the Guanabara Cup.
