By avoiding Lyon and defending champion Nantes, and having the advantage of receiving, Annecy increases its chances of becoming the first Ligue 2 club in the final since Auxerre in 2015.

For their part, the Nantes will have to pass over the body of an Olympique Lyonnais who fell Grenoble but is still recovering to play a second consecutive final at the Stade de France, and hope to play a new European campaign, after their recent elimination in the Europa League against Juventus Turin.
