She previously spent 15 years as the chief reporter for the Long Island bureau and the host of Weekend Today in New York for WNBC in New York City. Gusoff co-wrote “Buried Memories: Katie Beers’ Story,” a New York Times bestseller, with kidnapping survivor Katie Beer.
She attended George W. Hewlett High School. She later attended Cornell University, where she got a bachelor’s degree in English and Government, and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she earned a master’s degree in Journalism.
She commenced her career at WLEQ-FM in Fort Myers, Florida, and WEVU-TV, an ABC station at the time. He also started working at News 12 Long Island in the 1980s. In August 1993, he also joined WNBC, an NBC-owned and operated station in New York City.
She was the Bureau Chief and Correspondent for Long Island. During her time on NBC 4, she covered the 1996 Blizzard, the crashes of TWA Flight 800, and American Airlines Flight 587. On WNBC, he also hosted “Today in New York” on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
She was let go from WNBC on December 31, 2008, as part of a station-wide downsizing. In the spring of 2009, she joined WNYW Fox 5 and covered breaking news in the metropolitan area for Good Day New York. Fortunately, she was hired by WCBS-TV to cover the Long Island Beat in January 2012.
