A man from the Bronx has been apprehended for allegedly murdering another man in a shooting that took place in Times Square last month.
The suspect, 19-year-old Nasir Valenzuela, was arrested on March 10 in New Jersey and then brought to Midtown for his arrest.
On February 9, around 5:37 pm, Valenzuela purportedly engaged in a dispute with 22-year-old Idrissa Siby at the intersection of 44th Street and 8th Avenue in Times Square.
The altercation escalated, and Valenzuela allegedly shot Siby in the right side of his chest.
Siby attempted to escape but ultimately collapsed after making it a block to Chick-fil-A.
Siby was declared dead after being transported to a nearby hospital. It is uncertain if he was specifically singled out in the shooting.
Law enforcement sources suspect that both suspects were involved in drug dealing.
Additionally, Siby was familiar to the police as he had been apprehended four times within the last two years, three of which were for grand larceny, and one for possession of a controlled substance.
Police sources claim that Valenzuela, who is reportedly a drill rapper, and Siby knew each other, and Siby was the intended target.
Valenzuela has been charged with second-degree murder.
