Atul Gawande is a prominent American public health researcher, writer, journalist, and surgeon currently working as the Samuel O. Thier Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

In the year 2002, Atul published his first book titled Complications: A Surgeon’s Notes on an Imperfect Science. The book contains revised versions of fourteen of his articles for Slate and The New Yorker. Furthermore, the book was a National Book Award finalist. Atul released his second book in April 2007 called Better: A Surgeon’s Notes on Performance.
The book talks about 3 virtues that Atul considers to be most important for success in medicine including ingenuity, doing right, and diligence.
