At least six dead in a shooting at a religious center in Hamburg

At least six people have died and several more have been injured after a shooting that took place around 9:00 p.m. inside a Jehovah’s Witnesses temple in the city of Hamburg, according to various local media reports.

The perpetrators have fled the scene after shooting those present and the emergency services are already on the scene treating the wounded. According to sources from the emergency services, there would be seven serious injuries and 17 less serious ones.


The population has been alerted through the Nina Warnapp application. The message indicated that one or more unknown persons had shot people in a church.

The local authorities have warned that the area around Deelböge street between the districts of Gross Borstel, Alsterdorf and Eppendorf is perimeter and cannot be entered or left temporarily.

“So far there is no reliable information on the motive for the crime. We ask that you do not share unsafe assumptions or spread rumours,” the police warned on social media.
