Angela Bassett’s disappointment was evident after Jamie Lee Curtis won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The interpreter of Queen Ramonda, from Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverfrowned and even applauded her colleague after the announcement.

This is the second time Bassett has been nominated and she has gone home empty-handed. In 1994, she competed for the portrayal of Tina Turner in the biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It?. At the time, Holly Hunter, for O Piano, took the statuette.
